Based Upon is seeking freelance makers to join its London-based team on a temporary basis.
This is a challenging workshop based role, providing exposure to aspects of the Based Upon making process. The role involves working across a range of making disciplines, materials & techniques.
Applicants must have a desire to learn, a keen eye for detail, a positive attitude and be able to work as part of a team. Example duties may include prepping, sanding, polishing, waxing and masking. Applicants must be punctual, be conscious of health and safety regulations, wear appropriate PPE, be able to take instruction, use their initiative and have good communication skills. Somebody who is able to demonstrate a background in making and design will be best suited to this role.
Based Upon is a team of artists and designers creating highly acclaimed, large-scale artworks and sculptural furniture. The work is inspired by natural and urban landscapes, explorations of archetypal forms and patterns and by the narrative histories woven within a place or group of people. Based Upon work in many materials but are best known for having developed a unique palette of mark making techniques in liquid metals and resins. It also offers an exclusive collection of award-winning handmade surfaces which are used primarily within superyachts and the worlds finest interiors projects.
Based Upon was established in 2004 by twin brothers Ian and Richard Abell and is currently a team of 45 based in London but works extensively across the world.
