Matthew Allchurch Architects is hiring a post-Part 2 architectural assistant/newly qualified Part 3 architect to join its team in London.
Matthew Allchurch Architects (MAA) is a design-led, Revit-based practice situated at the multi-disciplinary Boathouse Design Studio, on the banks of the River Thames at Teddington Lock.
Matthew Allchurch Architects is seeking a technically skilled Post Part II Assistant or recently qualified Architect to strengthen our delivery team. You will work across a variety of sectors, with a focus on current projects from RIBA Stages 3 to 5. This is an exciting opportunity to join our practice at a pivotal time, contributing to the successful delivery of our expanding portfolio and supporting the continued growth of the studio.
A key part of this role is the ability to run projects independently. You will be encouraged to take ownership, drive progress and have excellent problem-solving ability. You will be given accountability on projects, with the support of more experienced team members when needed. We value commitment and long-term thinking. The successful candidate will have strong UK based technical delivery and site attendance experience and sound knowledge of the UK Building Regulations.
Responsibilities:
- run projects independently with direction/oversight from the senior management team
- assist the project lead on medium and large-scale projects
work constructively and collaboratively as part of the MAA design team - be responsible for achieving targets and deliverables set by the project leads
- have awareness of delivery programmes and deadlines and work toward these collaboratively
- take responsibility for self-checking work, prior to formal review
input into design team meetings and workshops - liaise with project consultants as required
- report to management team on project progress
- input into project quality assurance/review
- input into the project specification preparation
- liaise with project clients where required
- mentor and guide junior members of the team
- maintain up-to-date technical and regulatory knowledge of the construction industry
- engage with social and industry networking events
- adhere to the practice quality assurance standards
Skills:
- sound knowledge of UK Building Regulations
- extensive technical delivery experience
- site attendance experience
- advanced knowledge of CAD software (Revit & AutoCad preferred)
- detail-oriented
- efficient problem solving
- collaborative skillset
- proficient design, presentation and communication skills
- organisational, interpersonal and networking skills
- client/consultant liaison aptitude
- strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and deliver to deadlines
Experience and education:
- Part 2 UK practice-based experience, with a focus on technical delivery
- bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, design or similar
- master’s degree in architecture or design
