Role overview

Aman Interiors is seeking an ambitious and talented Furniture Designer and Developer to join its team in London. Reporting to the head of design, this role focuses on the design and development of furniture from concept to final production, ensuring each product reflects Aman’s commitment to quality and sophistication. The designer will bring concepts to life with an emphasis on detailed design and production. Candidates should demonstrate competent knowledge of and a natural passion for design, coupled with a strong drive to succeed and a desire to create beautiful, timeless furniture designs.

The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing creative strategy with execution, ensuring designs align with Aman’s brand ethos and aesthetic standards.

Responsibilities

Design:

  • concept: sketches, 3D ideation and materials of designs based on a brief to effectively propose and communicate with the team
  • detailed: developing furniture concepts into detailed designs for review in 3D (Solidworks is a must), critically analysing design details with a sensitivity to form and proportion
  • interiors: design and test furniture concepts in 3D environments, with sensitivity to the interaction and cohesion of elements

Product development:

  • developing furniture in Solidworks, creating robust, detailed models and producing production-ready technical drawings
  • producing specification sheets, renders and technical drawings
  • managing the communication with external manufacturers and the shop drawings approval
  • review, select and control material samples from the manufacturers
  • collaborating with the product team and manufacturers to address technical issues and overcome challenges related to manufacturing feasibility

Organisation:

  • management of multiple projects, leading the technical design, prototyping and production of furniture
  • design documentation management from concept to installation
  • Excel spreadsheets for tracking designs, codes and materials

Qualifications:

  • over five years of experience in designing and developing luxury-level furniture
  • a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in furniture design
  • fluency in creating robust 3D models in Solidworks, including surface modelling, along with the ability to produce precise technical drawings
  • experience in detailed design, technical execution, and the production of market-ready furniture is required
  • proficiency in Rhino, Keyshot, Adobe CS (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Microsoft Office 365 Suite; additional skills in Auto CAD is advantageous
  • highly motivated with a can-do attitude and efficiency in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to go the extra mile where necessary
  • strong organisational skills, with experience in managing multiple product design projects from concept to production
  • a proactive, solution-oriented approach to design challenges, with the ability to think creatively within constraints
  • good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of an effective team
  • demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow, working on all aspects of the design process
  • strong communication skills; fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • experience in the interior design sector is an advantage
  • eligibility to work in London, UK, is required
