Technical designer

Beaumont has an opportunity for a technical architect to join its central London team. 

Position: technical designer
Reporting to: CEO, development director and design manager
Key relationships: all team, Beaumont clients and suppliers
Location: City of London and West End
Salary: circa £35,000

Job profile

As junior technical architect at Beaumont, you will play an important role with assisting the design manager and development director in the delivery of drawing packages for all Beaumont projects, new and existing. The ideal candidate should have an excellent tender documentation skills, a good understanding of the construction process and be capable of taking on the brief and meet deadlines. This role will specifically work on office fit-outs and refurbishment projects.

Key responsibilities

  • produce and provide architectural drawings and related services as assigned
  • prepare full package/s of technical design, tender and construction drawings from general arrangements through to section details
  • develop schematic and functional drawings and layouts for clients/tenants
  • assist in the issuing drawings when required
  • review and coordinate and update drawing packages
  • liaise with contractors, specialists and consultants when required
  • prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for refurbishments and new builds
  • manage project filing as per the office procedures and requirements
  • ensure drawings comply with statutory regulations
  • attend site visits and progress/project meetings when requested
  • demonstrate an innovative approach to design and be confident in working on a number of projects at any one time

Competencies for the role

  • two years + experience in technical design and interior architecture essential -applicants without this will not be considered
  • ability to produce clear and detailed technical set of drawings for fabrications, inclusive of specification information
  • proficient with the use of AutoCAD, SketchUp, CGI skills a plus
  • extensive technical knowledge and substantial site experience
  • good understanding of the construction process and current statutory regulations
  • strong time keeping skills and have confidence in working in demanding environments
  • good eye for detail
  • ability to take instructions and deliver effectively to brief
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team
  • ability to design, present and propose new ideas
  • fluent English is required
