Senior designer
Matteo Bianchi Studio is looking for a senior designer with a minimum of five years’ industry experience to join the team in south London.
The studio creates bold and distinctive interiors for private residential and commercial clients in the UK and internationally, in addition to designing products for renowned global brands.
The team consists of a friendly mix of different cultures and nationalities and is more like a family. There are a great variety of projects, as we work across all sectors. We value every designer’s opinion and ensure this is a fun place to work.
Senior designer role
The senior designer is responsible for the smooth running of the projects working closely with Matteo and the studio director. Projects are run from start to finish, so proven job running experience is essential. This will involve client meetings, site surveys, concept creation, mood boards, material selection, lots of CAD drawing, budget planning, FF&E scheduling, procurement payments, on-site follow-up, and coordination. You will also need to accessorise projects and liaise with different suppliers and other industry professionals in the UK and internationally.
The ideal candidate must be proficient in Vectorworks, Photoshop, SketchUp and have strong free-hand sketching abilities.
This is an ‘all hands on deck’ role where everyone needs to be flexible and be prepared to get involved whenever required. Everyone contributes, which makes the studio work well. As the senior designer, you will be working with a junior designer on both interior design projects and product designs.
We are seeking a senior designer with a minimum of five years’ experience. We are offering a salary in the early £30Ks. You will be a good team player, that is very creative, highly organised, a good communicator, proficient and sociable. It is essential that you have recent UK experience of working on residential, commercial and hospitality projects.
An architectural background with an interiors sensibility is preferable as all our projects involve a degree of construction.
Responsibilities include the following:
- the ability to communicate well, be confident and demonstrate empathy with clients
- proven experience and ability of job running in the UK is essential
- internationally would be a bonus
- image sourcing, 3D sketching and modeling using Photoshop
- creating and organising presentation boards and booklets
- leading the design process with lighting, ironmongery and sanitary ware sourcing and scheduling
- investigating and contacting new and innovative suppliers/manufacturers
- Recording, collating and distributing any supporting technical documentation
- the capability to investigate, innovate and inspire us with your work
- researching new materials and finishes, order samples and document them within the material library
- produce planning and construction CAD drawings, ranging from masterplans to bespoke architectural and joinery details
- paper and electronic filing and recording all project documentation
- deal with contractors and all site-related queries promptly and effectively
