BIG is recruiting a research/Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Our London office is currently seeking a research/Part 2 architectural assistant to join one of our internal research projects. Our current study investigates the effects of climate change on our cities and environment, and what the global solutions are for a carbon-neutral human presence on Earth.

The project is aimed at mapping the practical roads towards achieving a carbon-neutral planet Earth, while addressing the fundamental challenges of energy, transport, industry, biodiversity, resources, pollution, water, food and prosperous living conditions for a world of soon to be 10 billion inhabitants. The purpose of the project is to present an overview of what it would actually take to stop the net emission of greenhouse gases; and to get an idea of the practical implications of the goal of a 100% sustainable human existence on planet earth.

Join us if you are a Part 2 architectural assistant who has:  

  • a professional degree in architecture and zero to two years professional experience post-graduation
  • very strong visualization and graphical skills, and a good eye for aesthetics
  • interest in sustainability, energy, global issues and the environment
  • ability to develop design options in collaboration with and for consideration of design team
  • ability to prepare, develop and edit drawings and models as they relate to the project
  • proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take on constructive guidance in response to direction from managers
  • knowledge in Adobe Suite, Rhino
  • great interpersonal communication skills
  • excellent communication skills, fluent in English- spoken and written

This job description reflects the core activities of the role although there will be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time. There is a requirement for the post holder to recognize this and adopt a flexible approach to work.
