FutureWave is seeking an industrial designer to join its team in Brussels, Belgium.

We are looking for a talented mid-level industrial designer, who can apply his/her knowledge and skills on innovative physical products. As an industrial designer, you will be responsible for the ideation and development of our latest products. You will join a multidisciplinary team working together on outstanding designs and experiences.

About FutureWave

FutureWave is a fast-growing innovative and creative agency tightly combining designers and engineers. We help organisations imagine, design and develop physical products that stand out. From idea to production, we focus the design and development of products on innovation, aesthetics, interactions and performances.

Located next to Brussels, FutureWave studio is part of a creative ‘co-working’ space, the Zaventem Ateliers, created by famous designer and architect Lionel Jadot. We work in our own private office space and atelier, surrounded by various prestigious designers and craftsman’s.

Who we’re looking for

Our experience-driven approach to projects requires a diverse range of skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will be a proactive person with a positive attitude keen to become an integral team member. The role will enable the designer to have creative freedom and lead industrial design projects.

  • two+ years’ experience in relevant industry
  • a passion for aesthetic and innovative products
  • result focused mindset, ability to drive the team to design impressive new products
  • excellent verbal and communication skills
  • excellent technical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • fluency in English is mandatory

Main tasks:

  • brainstorm on new products, imagine and optimize their interactions and derive their functionalities – 25%
  • design 2D and 3D concepts – 30%
  • evaluate technical feasibility by rapid prototyping – 25%
  • optimise designs and integrations to reduce production and assembly costs – 10%
  • find, contact and support manufacturers – 10%

Knowledge and experience:

  • you have good sketching and communication abilities
  • 2D Design development (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • 3D Design development : You have a strong experience designing parts using SolidWorks or Rhino
  • rendering: you have valuable experience with Keyshot
  • you have hands on experience with rapid prototyping, fine tuning and reliability testing
  • you have a good knowledge of production processes and materials
