Design International is seeking a senior architect to join its team in London.

Design International (DI) is an architectural and design practice based in London, with branch offices in Milan, Dubai and Shanghai, operating on a global scale and providing clients with impressive, innovative and ambitious design solutions. Largely recognised as specialists and thought leaders in retail design, the practice also offers mixed-use and hospitality multi-disciplinary services (architecture, interior design, landscape, master planning and branding) to its clients.

Job summary

The architect/senior architect is responsible for supporting the project leader and the design manager, contributing to and assists in the development of all designs stages as part of the design team, and delivering projects on time and on budget.

 Required Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • deliver high standards of design and technical knowledge whilst keeping designated projects to budget and to agreed timelines
  • create and maintain effective working relationships with external clients, contractors and consultants
  • manage all design stages and aspects of a project and influence performance and functional issues
  • compile all design and detailed drawings throughout design and construction phases for any project
  • provide effective support and assistance to the project leader
  • allocate work to project team and take day to day responsibility for the direction of the team in line with the directions of the project leader
  • embed and ensure all DI policies, procedures and guidelines are followed to achieve DI standard, quality and excellence
  • ensure project documentation is filed and archived correctly
  • operate in a way and represent DI through its values and leading by example
  • travel to other offices, sites, client offices as required

Skills/competencies:

  • strong mixed-use, retail, commercial and residential background
  • understands all design aspects of a project and how to influence and resolve practical issues at all stages; awareness of RIBA stages
  • able to work independently to high standard and contribute highs levels of performance in the coordination of project teams
  • excellent presentation skills
  • strong cross-cultural experience – able to operate effectively in a culturally diverse environment
  • ability to work under pressure and handle concurrent demands effectively to tight deadlines
  • ability to sketch and communicate ideas/project brief clearly and quickly
  • must have a commitment to seek new ways of working to achieve continuous improvement
  • proficient in the use of design applications (such as CAD, Revit proficient, Parametric Computational Design, InDesign and 3D softwares) and Microsoft Office Suite

Required qualifications:

  • fluent in written and spoken English
  • experience as a lead architect
  • five years professional experience
  • RIBA or ARB qualified or equivalent with up to five years professional experience

Salary: £39k-£44k (dependant on experience)
