Role:
- work as part of a multidisciplinary team to define product requirements, conceptualize solutions, design, engineer, prototype, and validate them in a fast paced cycle, to improve on and expand the capabilities of Cover’s cutting edge building system. In many cases you will be expected to take an idea, to a tested physical prototype in days or even hours
- systematize the way Cover’s building system interacts with various site conditions
- work closely with mechanical engineers and architects to develop the manufacturing, transportation, and on-site assembly processes
- work with Cover’s software team to create automated workflows to streamline the design, permitting, and manufacturing processes
Experience:
- seven+ years of experience designing, permitting, and overseeing the construction of projects, preferably modern projects with exceptional detailing
- experience designing custom high performance building details and communicating with engineers, contractors, and fabricators to ensure successful implementation
- knowledgeable on California building codes
Skills:
- ability to learn new skills quickly, and synthesize new information and ideas to create innovative solutions on demanding schedules
- strong understanding of material properties and basic machining and fabrication skills. This is a hands-on role, you will be expected to build mockups and prototypes in our 10,000 sq.ft. production facility
- ability to quickly learn new software tools. Experience with Rhino, Grasshopper, Onshape, or Solidworks is a plus
- ability to solve challenging problems both independently and as part of a team
- excellent verbal, written, and visual communication
- ability to thrive in a fast-paced, intense work environment with a high degree of responsibility
