Francis Sultana Studio is seeking a furniture designer to join its team in London.
Our studio is a unique and innovative space, creating bespoke furniture pieces, furniture collections and interiors in residential and hospitality. We are organically growing and are currently seeking a furniture designer to join our production team. The successful candidate will report directly to the furniture manager and studio manager.

Essential experience:
- degree or equivalent experience in furniture design
- three plus years of experience working as a furniture designer, ideally minimum one year gained in luxury residential materials/design
- experience managing/leading a project from conception to completion and QC reporting
- experience working with various suppliers throughout the design & manufacturing process
- strong conceptual skills
- experienced in Rhino, Keyshot 7-10 OR V-Ray, Photoshop and InDesign
- MS Office proficient (word, excel and outlook)
- excellent hand drawing skills is a plus
Position overview:
- developing a piece of furniture from the creative directors’ watercolours/sketches through 2D, 3D and rendering process
- producing technical details/designs for all hand drawn sketches with input from the creative director, furniture manager and head of projects
- to take responsibility for manufacturing procedures, and specifications with input from the creative director, furniture manager and head of projects on granted furniture pieces
- research of specific materials and finishes appropriate to the design/schemes, usage and budget (if applicable)
- research of specific proportions of details appropriate to the designs by the creative director
- to liaise where appropriate, with members of the external supplier teams and other associated organisations or companies
- problem solving to prevent issues arising with manufacturing procedures and specifications with input from the creative director, furniture manager and head of projects
- further development and understanding of financial aspects of running a design/ furniture project on time and on budget
- understand and able to read space planning, floor finish plans, ceiling plans, elevations and details
- attend general meetings with the responsibility of note taking, support and follow up with the furniture manager
- to assist the ordering and maintenance of accessory/furniture stock lists throughout the business
- write and communicate in a professional manner on all correspondence
