Position responsibilities

Marketing:

  • develops and implements China marketing strategy, in collaboration with the China practice leadership
  • collaborates with China practice leadership to develop a stronger internal pursuit process
  • oversees creation and maintenance of bilingual marketing collateral to be used for proposals, qualifications packages and interviews
  • collaborates with project managers on individual pursuits and tailored pitches when needed
  • collaborates with global marketing manager on the development and implementation of new global marketing collateral
  • contributes to the shared global library of resumes and project-specific content
  • ensures local office’s materials are available and up-to-date on OpenAsset
  • mentors colleagues when it comes to marketing and storytelling
  • participates in global conversations about marketing practices and strategies

Business development:

  • contributes to business plan implementation, through the creation of thoughtful, strategic marketing collateral and by ensuring that marketing collateral conveys strong, persuasive messaging
  • researches, interprets, and shares market intelligence, including specific client research
  • collaborates with leadership to evaluate potential clients and new projects, ensuring regular decision-making

Team management:

  • manages the China marketing team, including their professional development, across three offices (New York, Chicago, San Francisco)
  • distributes the marketing workload across the team

Other:

  • leads the marketing portion of regular leadership meetings and participates in firm-wide practice calls
  • collaborates with global marketing and business development leader and other managers to develop and implement firm-wide marketing strategies
  • collaborates with global marketing and business development leader to develop and manage the annual marketing budget, resources and staffing efforts
  • tracks opportunities using salesforce, and effectively uses salesforce to manage work and communicate with others through reports
  • acts as a key resource for the China practice as to salesforce training and quality assurances
  • liaises with China communications team, both with content and ideas to support marketing and business development efforts
  • performs other tasks and responsibilities as may be required

Leadership responsibilities:

  • actively leads, trains and mentors team members
  • directly supervises staff and is committed to direct reports’ professional development
  • develops and engages in talent strategy to find specialists, leaders, and future professionals for the firm through resume review and interviews, as applicable
  • actively engages in internal and external professional development opportunities
  • develops and/or manages, in collaboration with team members, a clear and consistent work plan to achieve budget, deliverables and schedule
  • encourages incorporation of sustainable strategies in all project assignments, as applicable
  • contributes to the development of standards, policies and procedures
  • protects SOM from financial and legal risk

Minimum qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in architecture, urban design, marketing, communications or related field
  • ten years’ of A/E/C marketing experience in the China market, with a minimum of two years in a management role
  • exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively work within a matrix organization
  • experience managing a team across multiple offices is preferred
