HemingwayDesign is seeking an interior designer to join its team in London.
HemingwayDesign are seeking a mid-level interior designer on a full-time permanent basis to join our London based studio to work on a range of residential, workplace, retail, meanwhile and placemaking projects. Candidates must have a passion for design and culture, an appreciation of materials and detail, as well as technical knowledge. As a member of a multidisciplinary design team, you will occasional be asked to contribute to areas outside of interior design – this might mean supporting our urban design projects or working with the events team on site layouts.
We are a talented and motivated team of graphic designers, urban planners, interior designers, writers, art directors, event producers, curators, architects, ideas people and strategic thinkers. Our work takes us across culture-led regeneration, urban design, interior architecture, community-focused placemaking, large scale multi-arts festivals, exhibition design, graphic and brand identity amongst other things. But our real speciality is with people, places, and positive societal impact.
Main responsibilities:
- work closely with the senior designer/lead designer assisting them during all phases of the design process
- create, prepare, and present design concepts for the review of senior designer/lead designer
- create detailed specifications and drawings, including floor plans, bespoke installations, joinery, and architectural details for all design stages
- ensure regular reviews at key design stages with senior designer/lead designer
- attend regular site visits at key stages
- research products and material specifications and investigate suitability for use
- maintain sample library
Requirements:
- exceptional presentation, conceptual and visualising skills, whether freehand or computer aided with
- good communication skills in English – verbal, written and visual
- professional-level design software proficiency (AutoCAD)
- professional-level design software proficiency (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Revit and Vectorworks knowledge a plus
- proven experience producing detailed drawings packages, schedules, and specifications
- good knowledge of FF&E and joinery and construction detailing
- creative problem solving and attention to detail
- confident to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- articulate and confident in liaising with architects, consultants, specialists, and suppliers
- good knowledge of finishes and materials
Salary and benefits:
- salary dependent on experience and skills
- four weeks paid holiday plus all public holidays
- the business operates a four and a half day week during the summer months of July and August
- two full time office dogs
