Based Upon is seeking a CNC machinist to join its team in London.

Outline

Based Upon are seeking an experienced and versatile CNC machinist to program, set up and operate our CNC machine alongside existing staff. Our machine is central to our fabrication capacity, and processes multiple materials at various stages of our projects. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate not only solid programming and machining ability, but also a knowledge of how the output of a CNC machine fits into other standard and non-standard manufacturing processes.

Essential experience/skills:

  • solid track record of 3 axis and 3+2 axis machining
  • evidence of 2D and 3D machining in multiple materials
  • fluency in CAM software
  • understanding of G-code
  • experience of machining both raw and finished materials
  • specifying and ordering stock and cutting tools
  • machine and stock set up
  • awareness of adjacent processes in our workflow – fabrication, pattern and  mould, painting, fine finishing

Desirable experience:

  • 5-axis machining
  • knowledge of CAD software – Rhino ideally
  • experience specifying, purchasing and setting up new machinery
  • fabrication – wood and metal
  • machine maintenance
  • fork lift licence
  • experience working with robots (UR)

Other requirements

Standard working hours are 08.45am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, with a 45 minute unpaid lunch break, and two 15 minute breaks. 15 minute breaks will be one in the morning and one in the afternoon. However you will be expected to work longer hours when required and occasional weekends.
