The Girl’s Day School Trust is recruiting for a head of capital development to join its team in London.
Salary: £80,000 plus excellent benefits

The Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) is the UK’s leading family of independent girls’ schools. We educate approximately 19,000 pupils across 23 GDST schools and two academies throughout England and Wales. With an annual turnover in excess of £200m, the GDST employs 3,500 staff across the schools and at the Trust office based in Victoria, central London.
The estates team acts on behalf of the Trust to manage all property related matters to ensure the Trust’s interests and its Estate are developed and maintained to agreed standards.
Reporting to the director of estates, the head of capital development leads the realisation of the Trust’s capital programme, with responsibility for leading a team to deliver a circa £30m a year portfolio of new-build, redevelopment and refurbishment projects.
As a member of the Estates SLT, this role will be one of the key people responsible for evolving the wider strategic estates strategy across all 25 schools, as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of all estates related matters.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a construction and property project and programme management role, with a track record of leading a team of project managers to deliver a multi-faceted capital programme. You will have strong reporting and presentation skills and experience of procurement and supply chain management in the construction and property industry.
The role calls for an individual with a proactive and highly motivated disposition and who will embrace the exciting challenge of leading a capital programme across a diverse education estate portfolio. You will be a collaborative team player who works positively with Trust stakeholders in the realisation of transformative estate capital projects.
