Corstorphine & Wright is looking for an associate architect for healthcare to join its team in Newcastle, UK.

Our team is expanding and looking for a talented Architect at Associate level to join our highly-creative team in Newcastle. Alongside our Leeds and Tamworth studios, our Newcastle studio sets the agenda and is at the forefront of innovative thinking in the healthcare sector. You will be responsible for managing projects through all RIBA stages and building and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and local authorities.
As an associate, you will be responsible to manage a team or teams to deliver the agreed business and project targets to the local studio and
the practice.
Key responsibilities:
- assist project teams in delivering the agreed outcomes of a project or scheme as agreed with the clients
- manage a number of projects for a range of clients to deadline and on budget
- aware of and compliant with relevant building and health and safety issues in relation to managing projects
- manage the preparation of presentation drawings, take a clear brief and use an innovative approach to developing into a concept design and guide others in these tasks
- manage the production of detailed design drawings, working drawings and schedules, specifications, 2D and 3D drawings on CAD and BIM where relevant.
- source technical information, have buildability awareness, prepare cost/benefit analysis, health and safety risk assessments, prepare tender reports and recommendations, implement and work to QM procedures, manage and resource projects via CMAP
- co-ordinate with other consultants, negotiate with clients, disseminate information to team members, negotiate with statutory bodies, present a case to a committee, and work and co-ordinate with colleagues
- able to prepare and deliver presentations and manage and run meetings effectively
- advise clients on appropriate services, provide general advice and guidance to clients, understand client needs, deal with client enquiries efficiently, deal with client complaints, and monitor client satisfaction levels
- assist in bidding for and winning new business to achieve targets set through the local studio/regional business plans
Job Knowledge, skills and experience
- professionally qualified in field of operation, i.e. RIBA etc.
- structured approach to problem solving and decision making
- able to manage budgets and control expenditure
- ability to assist in developing new business
- works with minimum supervision
- competent to prepare and deliver presentations and manage meetings effectively
- good working knowledge of CAD, REVIT & Microsoft Office and BIM where relevant.
- demonstrated evidence of people management skills, including supervising others in achieving key responsibilities in the role, recruitment, coaching and development and managing performance
- evidence of building and maintaining high levels of working relationships with clients, team members, colleagues and third parties
- good level of personal organisation and planning skills
- good understanding of QM procedures and H&S requirements and professional responsibilities.
- excellent communications skills (written and oral)
