Head of studio and operations

House of Grey is looking for a head of studio and operations to join its team in London.
Embedded at the heart of our design studio, the House of Grey head of studio and operations is the engine behind our design processes and the driving force behind our business operations.
A reliable, proactive, multi-tasking, agile thinker who’s always a few steps ahead, the House of Grey, head of studio and operations enjoys a high-energy, fast-paced working environment.
We are looking for an organised new member to support to deliver our Founder’s creative vision. In this role you will lead the people, process and functions of our growing studio.
Attention to detail is everything, an understanding of our philosophy and appreciation of the House of Grey aesthetic is essential, our head of studio and operations needs to be embedded in the House of Grey vision and an integral part of the evolution of the design studio.
Responsibilities include:
- the job holder acts as the first point of contact for all new business & client inquiries
- interviewing, appraisals & disciplinary processes (working along our HR consultant)
- heath and safety protocol (working along our H&S consultant)
- financial administration (accounts payable/receivable, payroll, invoicing, reporting and proposal coordination)
- contracts & fee proposals for new clients/partners
- workflow definition and optimisation
- support to implement new internal processes
- office management
- HR and employee engagement and support
Ideally you have bundles of enthusiasm, positive energy, able to multitask, finance experience, alongside being extremely organised, as you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finances of the company.
This role directly supports the founder & Director in driving the business forward by providing reliable financial insight. The role has ownership of being an integral part of a creative team, invoicing, payroll, contracting, working with our external HR, Health & Safety companies. Coordinating fee proposals, and ensuring accurate management reporting is provided to the management team.
The ideal applicant will have the following attributes :

- facilitating an efficient and enjoyable working environment, along with bringing energy & a keen interest to learn, develop and progress with in a small creative design studio
- we are looking for an innovative thinking individual with strong communication skills (verbal and written) and professional manner
- attention to detail is everything, an understanding of our philosophy and appreciation of the House of Grey aesthetic is a valuable asset
- applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of high level operations management experience in a similar studio / field
- you are motivated by sustainability, and future proofing the way we work within a positive work culture
- this is an excellent opportunity with room to develop within a creative progressive studio environment that is at a key time of growth
Hours of work: Full-time from the studio.
Salary competitive and based on experience.

- we offer 28 days annual holiday for full time employees with this increasing by a day per year up until 33 days
- we hold summer and winter socials to allow the studio members to connect and be inspired by current cultural events
- flexible time 8-5 or 9-6pm to allow for personal appointments either side of the day.
