We’re looking for a communications coordinator to build our company’s profile. You will be interested in our areas of influence: urbanism, movement and user-centred design. Your job is to position our content in the right places using our stories so that we connect with the right people.

You will have a close relationship with our leadership team, working closely with the commercial and design teams and get to know and work with everyone in the company. It’s a role for someone who wants to be leading from the heart of the organisation.

Background

Applied is a growing specialist consultancy – with a core practice of wayfinding, but with solutions that go much further. It is the global leader in its field. Engagements are significant and the company operates globally. The company created London’s walking system, Toronto’s transit system and Google’s wayfinding system.

The role

The role of the communications coordinator is to manage Applied’s external and internal communications, to build Applied’s profile and attract our desired clients and staff to the company.

The role involves:

  • devising and implementing communications strategies
  • creating and disseminating content across a variety of channels
  • running selected social media
  • collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency and alignment across all communications
  • organising and arranging talks, events and special projects
  • key responsibilities for this role will include:
  • develop and implement communication strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives
  • conduct market research on the industry, prospective clients, competitors, and partners
  • write and edit content for various channels, including email newsletters, social media posts, and press releases
  • work with our PR agency to support PR initiatives. This includes organising content, coordinating press briefings, staying on top of project updates and strategically supporting the PR team in delivering high-quality press coverage in both national and international media
  • manage the organisation’s social media accounts, including content creation, community management, and analytics reporting
  • monitor media coverage and prepare reports for internal stakeholders
  • collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels
  • assist with the development of marketing collateral and other promotional materials
  • support the execution of events and other public-facing activities
  • continuously monitor and evaluate communication efforts to ensure effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement

Key qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • two to three years’ of experience in a communications or marketing role
  • strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating content for a variety of channels
  • experience managing social media accounts and creating social media content
  • ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and departments
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • experience with analytics and reporting
  • proficiency with Google Workspace and Adobe Creative Suite
  • experience with email marketing and website management platforms, such as Mailchimp and WordPress is preferred

Overall, you are someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You’ll have a strong understanding of how communications work, excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Level

We are looking for someone who is at the early stages of their career but someone who wants to learn a lot very quickly and can grow with an expanding company.

Salary

£30,000 to £40,000 per annum.
