- 35 hours per week, 52 weeks a year
- fixed-term – confirmed for one year in first instance, anticipated for a further two years
The Governing Body of Acland Burghley School is seeking to appoint an exceptional community, culture and heritage project manager to play a leading role in the development and delivery of the school’s ambitious Hall for All project. A Hall for All aims to deliver a world-class performance and exhibition venue to the local community within our standalone assembly hall, celebrating its Brutalist architecture through the creation of a museum of brutalist architecture.
The post holder will be instrumental in developing plans that form part of delivering a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) Development Phase application, so prior experience of NLHF Activity Plan processes would be advantageous.
The community, culture and heritage project manager will require exceptional stakeholder engagement and community consultation skills as they will lead the establishment and ongoing functioning of a brand new community-led management board. The CLMB will be comprised of representatives from the school, the local community, and a range of partner organisations. The successful applicant will therefore have outstanding communication, negotiation, prioritisation and organisational skills, and the ability to manage complex and competing priorities. They will ideally have a good understanding of the community local to Acland Burghley School and its needs and priorities, as well as experience of engaging with a range of groups and organisations within it.
The community, culture and heritage project manager will work closely with the school’s director of operations, a member of the senior leadership team. The post holder will be highly effective, flexible, positive, reliable and proactive, operating at a senior, strategic level, whilst retaining the ability to form effective relationships with all stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable passion for heritage and culture, ideally with experience of managing a community based heritage or culture programme or of developing or managing a Heritage Activity Plan in line with the National Lottery Heritage Fund Delivery Round application supporting materials.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the school site through our ambitious £1.8m project to refurbish our assembly hall in order to create a world-class performance, heritage and arts space for the local community, and our ground-breaking partnership with our orchestra in residence, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to manage a complex project in the context of a wide range of stakeholders and users with varying needs and priorities. They will have high standards and a passion for engaging the local community. They will have the ability to identify and seize opportunities to improve and adapt, whilst remaining focused on successful delivery of the project.
Situated close to Hampstead Heath in the heart of North London, Acland Burghley is a mixed, inclusive, community comprehensive that enjoys high levels of parental support and a close collaborative relationship with other local schools. It is part of the popular and highly successful LaSWAP post-16 consortium with Parliament Hill, La Sainte Union and William Ellis Schools.
