Whittaker Parsons is hiring a project architect to join its team in London.

Whittaker Parsons is looking for an excellent project architect with at least three years’ post-RIBA Part 3 experience.

We are a small, busy practice based in Shoreditch, London, with a diverse portfolio. We are searching for an energetic individual with a genuine interest in and commitment to retrofit, new technologies and improving our built environment. The successful candidate will be a job runner with excellent communication skills, initially taking the lead on various exciting retrofit residential projects, with some exciting commercial and community projects in the pipeline.

There are creche options and complementary lunchtime yoga sessions within the building. The position is full-time; however, we could consider a part-time contract for the right experienced applicant requiring flexibility.

Main responsibilities:

  • working across all the RIBA work stages
  • liaising directly with the directors to develop the building design
  • working closely with the directors to oversee projects and the work of other team members
  • analyse the brief and prepare drawings and presentations
  • arrange and participate in client and design team meetings
  • coordinate with consultants and relevant statutory authorities to further the building design
  • develop construction details in collaboration with individual members of the project team
  • contract administration: administering a traditional JCT building contract – completing all documentation, certificates, AI’s and site records

The successful applicant will have some or all of the following experience and qualities listed below:

  • proficient in Microstation & NBS specification software
  • excellent knowledge of UK building regulations, contract administration (traditional JCT) and planning law
  • strong technical skills/detailing experience (knowledge of Passivhaus standards would be advantageous)
  • strong experience running traditional JCT building contracts
  • all-round experience of working on RIBA work stages 0 to 5
  • excellent communication skills and written English
  • proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • self-motivated, highly organised, with reliable time management skills
  • reflective, dedicated and creative
