Senior interior designer – maternity cover
at Piercy&Company
Piercy&Company is looking for a senior interior designer to join its London studio.
This is a one-year maternity cover contract with the possibility to be extended if work load permits.
About us
Piercy&Company is an award-winning Camden-based studio founded in 2002 by architect Stuart Piercy. Our interdisciplinary practice comprises 90-plus architects, designers and researchers with a shared passion for materials, form, technology and craft. In December 2022 the studio became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).
Headed up by Fiona Neil and Cathrin Walczyk, the design studio is the practice’s furniture, interiors and design strategy hub. We are a small but growing team working closely with the wider studio. We are looking for a talented individual to join us and to take on some exciting new opportunities. Through bespoke objects to large-scale interiors and big-picture thought pieces, our ambition is to explore the role of design in the wider context of culture and human experience, and build on the practice’s deep-rooted interest in materiality, making and human-scale detail.
About you
We are looking to hire a versatile interior designer or architect with a strong focus on technical experience and delivery and a passion for leading projects and teams.
We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
- minimum of eight years experience and post-graduate degree
- demonstrable working knowledge of interior and retrofit projects from concept through to completion, including FF&E procurement, materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling
- workspace sector experience would be a plus
- a solid design judgement; a good eye and attention to detail
- confident communication and presentation skills
- great people skills – proven track record of managing teams and maintaining positive client relationships; a passion for motivating teams and fostering a positive work environment
- a can-do work attitude and collaborative spirit
- experience leading project design teams and managing on-site relationships
- familiarity with current UK regulations, codes and best practice
- an interest in pushing forward a sustainability agenda within interior projects
- experience in furniture production
- familiarity with and skill in the use of a range of creative and CAD programmes, ideally Rhino, Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Suite
- an open mind and keen interest in design and the world around you
