Amy Lau Design is seeking a senior residential interior designer to join its team in New York.

Award winning and notable NYC-based luxury residential interior design firm is seeking a dynamic senior residential interior designer for a full-time position. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of design firm experience, exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, be meticulous with details and enjoys collaborating in a team environment. They will also work independently with confidence, have a passion for design excellence, great leadership qualities and excellent communication skills. Candidates will work directly with the principal designer and the team to manage and lead projects.

As a full time senior designer, you will be a part of a fun and dedicated team creating interior design concepts, presentations for clients and technical documentation throughout the process, developing design presentations and interfacing with clients, artisans, artists, architects, general contractors and engineers alike.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • creation of interior design drawings sets that include floor plans, RCPs and elevations in AutoCAD
  • basic knowledge of local and national architectural/building codes, ADA requirements
  • site surveying
  • developing project budgets and cost estimate reports
  • generating scopes of work and managing contractor bidding process as needed
  • reviewing and coordination of RFI’s and submittals with excellent attention to detail
  • prime point of contact on projects for clients, architects and all third party consultants
  • sourcing and specifying vintage and contemporary furniture, fabrics, lighting, art, objects and accessories
  • overseeing development of presentations and confidently presenting to clients in person or via video conferencing
  • knowledge of ergonomic furniture requirements
  • developing design intent shop drawings for custom milled furniture and interior architectural details
  • managing and orchestrating installation of deliverables
  • overseeing site construction and progress as main point of contact for general contractor
  • producing and submitting all project FF&E schedules
  • managing client invoices and the procurement processes per ALD standards

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited interior design certified programme
  • high proficiency in AutoCAD and full Adobe Suite
  • proficiency in studio designer
  • two to three years of experience working in the field and with new development construction projects at various phases
  • experience with SketchUp or another 3D rendering software is a benefit
  • excellent knowledge of luxury finishes, high end showrooms, custom furniture fabrication
  • great sense for colour, material and the great art movements of the last few centuries
  • team leader as much as a team player
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with excellent follow through
  • good attitude while managing multiple projects in a faced paced in friendly environment
  • excellent communication skills
