Project manager
at Object Atelier

Object Atelier is hiring a project manager to join its team in southeast London.

About the role

We’re a young bespoke joinery company and have an exciting opportunity for a talented project manager to take the helm on a fantastic portfolio of bespoke joinery contracts across London and beyond.

We’re looking for a driven and inspirational leader with master planning skills and a passion for exceptional craftsmanship.

From stunning high-end residential schemes to prestigious commercial fit-outs and healthcare projects, you will lead every stage of the project lifecycle, from initial specification and procurement right through to flawless installation and client sign-off.

You will be the vital link between our clients, designers, workshop, and site teams, bringing people together, keeping energy high and ensuring every project target is achieved and is something the whole team is proud of.

Key responsibilities

Project delivery:

  • lead multiple joinery projects simultaneously from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to an outstanding quality standard
  • build and maintain clear, dynamic project programmes that keep design schedules, workshop production and site installation perfectly in sync
  • based at the workshop and across multiple sites around London, you will monitor project progress, solving challenges swiftly and ensuring everything matches the design intent
  • must be experienced dealing with main contractors and sub-contractors, internal teams; design and workshop and the site crew
  • confidently deal with changes to any scope of work or site delays and realign your programme accordingly to hit the PC date

Leadership and team motivation:

  • inspire and motivate site installation teams, subcontractors and workshop makers, creating a positive, can-do culture where everyone feels valued and performs at their best
  • lead by example: bring enthusiasm, clarity and decisive thinking to every project, with a positive can-do attitude
  • share your expertise and knowledge
  • foster strong, collaborative relationships across all teams, keeping communication open, honest and upbeat even when the pressure is on
  • well-equipped to deal with peaks and troughs in the workflow
  • able to work on fast-paced projects, whilst keeping calm and focused

Client and stakeholder management:

  • be a brilliant client-facing contact: communicating proactively and managing their expectations with confidence; always going the extra mile to solve problems
  • build strong, lasting partnerships with main contractors, interior designers, architects and property developers
  • represent the company with professionalism and enthusiasm in design meetings, site meetings and at client reviews

Commercial management:

  • take confident ownership of project budgets — tracking costs, managing variations and seeking opportunities for additional work; spot commercial risks before they become issues
  • source the best subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate smart contracts and manage procurement with efficiency and flair
  • produce clear, insightful monthly financial reports that keep stakeholders fully informed and projects on track.

What you will bring

Essential:

  • six-plus years’ experience in a project manager role with a genuine passion for successful project delivery working on commercial joinery projects
  • apositive, problem-solving leader who knows how to motivate, inspire and bring out the best in a team
  • strong confident communication skills — equally comfortable presenting to a client or rallying a site team on a Monday morning
  • deep understanding of joinery materials, manufacturing processes and installation methods
  • a proven track record delivering high-value bespoke joinery or fit-out projects (£250k+) on time and on budget
  • full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • degree or HNC/HND in architecture, design or construction management or a related field
  • SMSTS or SSSTS health and safety qualification a plus
  • experience on health care projects
  • familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drawing software

What we offer you
