Casson Mann is seeking an interpreter/content development assistant to join its firm in London.
Leading interior design practice specialising in museums and cultural attractions requires an interpreter to work with their head of interpretation.
This is a new role in the practice and we are looking for a confident, creative, motivated, enthusiastic team-player, with outstanding communication skills, able to turn their mind to a range of subjects, who knows how to bring complex ideas to life, write for different audiences and cope with competing demands.

Skills and experience
Essential:
- educated to degree level
- at least two and a half years’ professional experience in a museum, cultural organisation, specialist design agency or within a communications field
- experience of writing copy for different needs and different audiences e.g. marketing, descriptive, interpretative
- excellent and demonstrable communication skills, including writing, researching, or editing
- excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of dealing with clients, who might include curators, subject experts and stakeholders
- computer literacy, preferably including InDesign and Keynote
Desired:
- knowledge of the exhibition design process
- knowledge of the working practices of museums
- understanding of audiences and visitor behaviour
- curation experience, including the care and presentation of objects
- experience of collaborative working, including community participation projects
- specialism within a particular academic field e.g. history, science

The role
This is a full-time position based in Casson Mann’s London studio in the city. You will work in support of the head of interpretation, researching subjects for museum and exhibition design projects as well as new business, contributing ideas and knowledge within design meetings. There may be some requirement to travel to client meetings and attend site visits.
You will be expected to familiarise yourself quickly with the practice’s standard working procedures and design phases. You will be required to input interpretative ideas at all stages of the design process, assisting the Head of Interpretation devise interpretative tables and other creative briefing documents.
You will also work in support of the studio manager to pursue and secure new business. This will involve organising and preparing marketing materials, including pitches and tender responses, awards submissions, website and news updates, presentations and press releases.
