MWAI is hiring a project architect/senior architect to join its team in London.

The role

We are seeking an ambitious, experienced and self-motivated project architect to lead the design and delivery of projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will have proven experience working on complex UK projects, and will be confident in managing clients, consultants, and junior team members.

This is a client-facing role that requires excellent technical ability, strong design sensibility, and exceptional communication skills. The Project Architect will also work closely with the practice Directors on conceptual designs, presentations, design development and production.

Key responsibilities:

  • lead projects from inception through to delivery across all RIBA stages
  • prepare and present design proposals to clients and consultants
  • work closely with the practice directors on conceptual designs, presentations, design development and production
  • manage and mentor junior architects and assistants, ensuring quality of output and professional development
  • coordinate project teams, oversee resources and monitor progress against deadlines
  • take responsibility for design, technical packages, and statutory submissions (including planning and listed building consents)
  • attend site meetings, liaise with contractors and ensure quality standards are achieved
  • uphold MWAI’s commitment to design quality and attention to detail

Skills and experience required:

  • ARB registered architect with minimum five years’ post-Part 3 experience
  • demonstrable experience in private residential projects in London (essential)
  • strong technical knowledge and experience delivering projects through RIBA Stages 0–5
  • proficiency in Vectorworks and the Adobe Creative Suite (essential)
  • working knowledge of SketchUp and Enscape (desirable)
  • strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction detailing, and materials
  • confident leading and coordinating design teams and consultants
  • excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • ability to balance design ambition with technical and delivery rigour
  • a proactive, collaborative and organised approach with the ability to run multiple projects concurrently
  • fluent in written and Spoken English
