Technical architect
at MWAI
MWAI is seeking a technical architect to join its team in London.
MWAI is a London-based architecture and design studio. We are seeking exceptional candidates who are intelligent, ambitious, self-motivated and want to contribute to a vibrant studio culture in the heart of London. The successful candidate will have proven experience working on complex projects in the UK, and will be confident in managing consultants, and junior team members.
This is a team working role that requires excellent technical ability, strong design sensibility, and exceptional communication skills. The project architect will also work closely with the practice Directors on design development, production and site.
Key responsibilities:
- lead projects from inception through to delivery across all RIBA stages
- deliver design, technical packages, and statutory submissions (including planning and listed building consents)
- manage and mentor junior architects and assistants, ensuring quality of output and professional development
- coordinate project teams, oversee resources and monitor progress against deadlines
- contribute to office management and admin
Skills and experience required:
- a high-quality portfolio, demonstrating both academic performance & real-world experience
- ARB registered architect with minimum 3 years’ post-Part 3 experience
- experience in sustainable retrofit (preferred)
- strong technical knowledge and experience delivering projects through RIBA Stages 2–6
- confident leading and coordinating design teams and consultants
- excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- proficiency in Vectorworks (preferred)
- fluent in written and Spoken English
