London, UK
Architect
at Hayhurst and Co
Hayhurst & Co is looking for an architect to join its team in London.
We are currently working on a wide range of exciting projects including one-off homes and community and cultural projects around the UK.
The practice is developing significant experience in deep retrofits of modernist homes and the use of low-carbon and hyper-local materials: in the first instance, you will be leading two such projects.
You will have a passion for sustainability and craftmanship, be curious about the use of materials, enjoy developing bespoke details at Stage 4 and working with contractors to deliver them on site.
You will want to help further the practice’s knowledge and expertise in these areas.
Hayhurst & Co is an equal opportunities employer and a member of the London Practice Forum.
We are keen to receive applications from a diverse range of candidates, and we actively encourage applications from under-represented groups.
Essential qualities:
- RIBA Part 3 and a minimum of one to two years’ post-qualification experience in a UK practice
- passion for materials, craft and the environment
- strong design skills: have experience of designing and delivering bespoke detailing and be construction-savvy
- excellent drawn, written and verbal communication skills with experience of acting in client-facing and contractor-facing roles
- excellent organisation, attention to detail and an ability to think creatively and problem-solve through design
Desirable qualities:
- experience of administering traditional JCT contracts
- experience of preparing documentation to demonstrate compliance with building regulations/discharging principal designer responsibilities
- experienced in the use of Vectorworks, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and Enscape
- experience of leading and supervising the work of architectural assistants
We offer:
- a salary will be within our architect salary range of £38,000 to £44,250 per annum depending on experience with opportunity for career progression
- we offer enhanced annual leave and parental leave allowances which increase with length of service
- a minimum of two away days throughout the year and an annual personal professional development allowance
- payment of ARB registration and RIBA membership
- an ARB-compliant schedule of CPD events
- a dog-friendly and sociable south-facing studio and roof terrace in the heart of Spitalfields
The role is full-time, studio-based with a start in December/January.
