Tonkin Liu is looking for Part 1 architectural assistants to join its team in London.

Tonkin Liu, proud recipients of 15 RIBA Awards and the 2018 Stephen Lawrence Prize, is looking for several outstanding and ambitious Part 1 candidates to join its growing studio. Candidates need to be excellent designers and communicators, technically capable, have a keen interest in building innovation and experimentation, and be skilled at analogue, digital and physical prototyping.

We are a London-based architecture studio with a highly acclaimed portfolio of finely crafted buildings, innovative public sculptures and regenerative urban landscapes. Current projects include a landmark 40m tall tower artwork for Manchester city centre, an extension to the Grade II* Listed Lansdowne Club, a conversion of a water tower into a home, a structurally innovative library and dance studio in a remote woodland setting, an exhibition design for the Barbican, a large-scale lighting installation for Weymouth’s iconic promenade, a major to new pavilion in Paddington Basin, and a ‘ground-breaking’ medical device.

Tonkin Liu is a RIBA Practice role model operating at the forefront of both architectural practice and education, committed to fostering a collaborative working environment and supporting future architects.

Required skills:

  • high proficiency in 2D and 3D draughtsmanship (Vectorworks and Rhino preferred but not mandatory)
  • high proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • ability to work imaginatively and rigorously, both independently and in a team
  • fluency in written and verbal English
