StudioXAG is looking for a junior or middleweight technical/industrial designer to join its team in London.
About us
Designing and making some of the most exciting window displays, StudioXAG is made up of 25 full time 2D & 3D designers, project managers, production managers, plus our in-house workshop team. Based in Leyton, east London, the XAG team specialises in design and fabrication for retail environments across the world. With projects ranging from show-stopping bespoke installations to global window roll-outs.
The role
StudioXAG are looking for a junior or middleweight technical designer to join our team in east London. Working closely with our design and production departments, you will be helping to problem solve many different projects, whilst delivering detailed production packs and technical drawings. You will have the opportunity to work with great brands on interesting projects and see your work ‘go live’ within a very short period of time.
You
You are looking to work in a challenging and fast-paced creative environment, and relish in working in the details. You have a growing knowledge of materials and are fascinated by how things are made. You love to collaborate on large and small scale projects, offering your expertise to help make designs a reality.
Responsibilities
- producing technical drawings and specification packs, including CAD files for CNC/laser cutting etc
- working with design and production teams to advise on materials and fabrication
- helping to deliver fully resolved designs to both our in-house construction team and outsourced contractors
- solving project-based technical issues, including liaising with our internal production team
- assisting project managers with budgets and costings
- liaising with suppliers and project managers to ensure projects are well communicated and on-track
- managing internal and external fabrication processes
Skills:
- a minimum of one years’ technical design experience within the retail experience industry
- experience using Adobe Creative Suite, 2D and 3D CAD software
- an active interest in all areas of design, with experience and knowledge in a variety of different design practices
- a willingness to learn new processes and ways of working
- the ability to produce quick, high-quality work
- an understanding of fabrication and assembly processes
- attention to detail and accuracy
Salary: £20-30k (dependent on experience)
This is a full-time position with immediate start, based at our studios in east London.
