Studio assistant

Uncommon Land is seeking a studio assistant to join its office in London.
Uncommon Land design contemporary external spaces in tune with their site and adjacent architecture. We aim to bring a natural and sustainable beauty to the built environment which allows environmental and social processes to underpin a robust landscape solution.
We have designed a diverse portfolio of public realm, landscape, garden and installation projects in the UK and around the world, telling the story of places through memorable, greener and sustainable environments.
About the role
The studio assistant ensures the smooth running of the studio, supporting the directors’ administrative needs and contributing to marketing and business development activities within the studio. There are opportunities to get involved with PR and the graphic output of the studio too.
Key responsibilities
Studio administration:
- undertake the day to day running of the studio, organising studio admin and working with colleagues to facilitate “back of house” processes
- provide administrative support to the two directors: maintain the studio calendar, assist in making travel arrangements and submitting expenses, organise staff events
- undertake all aspects of project administration: liaise with clients, coordinate team members’ project inputs and maintain project directories, arrange team/client meetings
- work with IT and other partners to ensure that the studio is properly supported
- champion sustainability within the studio and assess the carbon footprint of identified studio projects
Marketing and business development:
- work with the Handley House group’s marketing team to maintain a clear brand message across identified platforms
- collate PR materials for past and ongoing projects to create and maintain a PR profile for the studio, promoting our ethos and activities across external and internal channels
- obtain images and stories from colleagues to generate a regular flow of studio news to Instagram and other social media platforms
- contribute to bid and RFP documents
- maintain the studio contact list, organising associated data as required to support business development activities
About you:
- a keen interest in landscape architecture or the built environment, with some knowledge or practice of design
- a proficient user of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign
- strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferably including Sharepoint
- experience of working in a fast-paced, people-orientated environment
- good organisational, attention to detail and problem solving skills
- a proactive mindset and good team player
- excellent written and verbal communications skills
- a confident personality that can communicate and engage at all levels
