PLP Architecture is seeking a Japanese-speaking architect to join its team in London.
We are a London based group of architects, designers and thinkers who value the transformative role of ideas and the capacity for architecture to inspire.
PLP Architecture has created some of the world’s smartest buildings, which have redefined what it means to live and work in today’s cities. PLP Labs is a research collaborative that develops concepts and technologies aimed at the future development of cities and urban living.
We have recently completed the Edge, the greenest office building in the world and Collective Old Oak, the largest co-living building to date. PLP is currently working on the tallest all-timber building in the world as well as researching a ground-breaking urban mobility system that fuses autonomous cars with mass-transit.
We are a non-hierarchical, collaborative, multi-disciplinary practice with the culture of a young start-up.
PLP is seeking a talented and motivated architect to work us in our London-based studio. Experience of working on Japanese projects is essential to this role.
Essential experience and skills:
- ten years + experience working with all stages of design
- fluent in Japanese, both written and spoken and good level of English
- we look for candidates with strong communication and coordination skills, good technical knowledge to coordinate with Japanese local architects and consultants beyond concept design
- strong verbal and graphic communication skills, good design sensitivity and the ability to work independently whilst functioning in a team environment and manage smoothly the office team and Japanese local consultants and architects
- strong 2D and 3D skills including, Rhino, Revit, MicroStation. Grasshopper and other design communication skills like InDesign, Illustrator would be advantageous
Desirable experience:
- good grasp of architectural design and construction practice in Japan, as well as local building regulations
- façade package experience is preferred
- all candidates should be eligible to work in the UK
