Communications manager

Pollard Thomas Edwards is looking for a communications manager to join its busy team in London. 

The communications manager develops and manages the Pollard Thomas Edwards brand, internally and externally. The communications manager will work with an external PR agency on press and publicity.

The role requires a creative individual with an interest in architecture and design, self-motivated and with excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills, able to produce content as well as managing the team and client relationships. The communications manager is responsible for a team of four staff and reports directly to the partners.

Management

  • oversee, guide and support comms team
  • produce an annual comms strategy with the comms management group (CMG – currently a senior partner and two partners) and present to partners
  • manage, maintain and monitor the annual comms budget, analyse figures related to business
  • manage comms bookings
  • monitor team performance including oversight of quality control
  • attend monthly management forum, and partners’ meetings as required, give updates when necessary
  • produce monthly comms progress reports

Brand management

  • liaise with PR agency, clients and other stakeholders as required
  • contribute with PR agency, CMG and partners to publicity strategy, including key project press dates and promotional events
  • advise on exhibition content, monitor with PR agency opportunities for speaking, exhibitions to attend
  • relationship management: maintain client and supplier databases (Union Square software)
  • represent the practice directly and act as point of contact for organisations such as NLA, Open City, London Festival of Architecture, RIBA Client Services etc.

Bids and publicity material

  • advise on need for and commission new project presentational material
  • liaise with project partner for content and angle, i.e. USP
  • select photographs for press releases
  • identify key awards and relevant projects and manage submission
  • commission project photography
  • oversee maintenance of an up to date photographic database of project and related material (Open Asset)
  • oversee publicity sheets: content and production
  • maintain and manage website

Event management

  • plan a programme of events, including PTE exhibitions and social events, hosting events for partner organisations
  • oversee the planning and execution of client and partner organisation events, including content, publicity, catering, staffing and attendance and health and safety, to an agreed budget
  • organise PTE social events, including catering, health and safety and clean-up

Internal communications

  • maintain a flow of current, engaging information on PTE project and other activity to staff
  • research PTE project aspirations and content to communicate to staff, and for incorporation in bid and publicity material

Knowledge and qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office 365 including PowerPoint
  • Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
  • Degree level education

Skills and experience:

  • strategic and creative thinker with proven experience working on a wide range of communication strategies including all forms of media
  • excellent project management skills
  • strong management and leadership skills
  • experience of representing a company at external events
