The role
We are a small but growing team and are recruiting for this new exciting role to support us in a number of new commercial projects. The architectural designer will work alongside the design team to create floor plans and drawing packs and to detail and deliver various projects and bring the client’s vision to life. This includes working on various scale projects that use technical and construction detailing skills. Depending on the project, the scope of work may include initial concept design, schematic design, design development and construction documentation, including tendering and construction follow-up support to the project management team.
The candidate should have three to five years’ experience working on commercial projects – excellent design skills and understand construction principles, with a focus on interior detailing. Ability to produce drawing packs for tender and construction.
Key responsibilities:
- producing plans, elevations, sections details from initial concept through to technical design supporting the design team
- creating build packages, including design intent and tender pack drawings
- creating drawings that correlate with the finishes and fittings schedule specifications
- conducting and writing up site surveys
- liaising with specialist subcontractors
Skills and experience:
- excellent attention to detail
- enthusiastic and comfortable working in a fast-paced and small business environment
- articulate, self-motivated enthusiastic individual
- fluent in English, verbal and written
- experience of designing workspace interiors and understanding spatial requirements and solid understanding of good practice workspace guidelines and requirements
- proven expertise in AutoCAD LT, and Adobe Photoshop software. SketchUp and Adobe Illustrator experience are a plus
- experience using both metric and imperial (US/UK) measurements
- experience with undertaking site surveys
- understanding of construction methodology useful
- understanding of construction terminology and use of specification codes in construction drawings
Specifics:
- initial six-month contract: part-time employment (three to four days per week)
- we are keen for someone to join the team as soon as possible
- availability during standard working hours 9am to 5.30pm but flexi-working is the norm at trifle*
- salary: depending on your level of experience
- you must be eligible to live and work in the UK to apply for this role and able to commute into London one to two days per week
