Stephen Burks Man Made is hiring a mechanical engineer to join its team in Brooklyn, New York.
We are a hands-on collaborative design studio deeply invested in the transformative power of craft techniques that challenge the limits of new technologies within industrial production.
Our projects include furniture, installations, lighting, packaging, and product design for some of the world’s leading design-driven brands.
We seek a mechanical engineer with a minimum of three years experience and DFM (design for manufacture) expertise to lead the technical development of our ongoing projects.
Candidates must have an excellent understanding of advanced manufacturing techniques and materials processing with the ability to take products from concept to manufacture.
Experience with consumer electronics and luxury packaging a plus.
Responsibilities
- collaborate directly with interdisciplinary associates
- develop looks-like and works-like technical models
- manage production-ready engineering CAD files
- manage engineering/manufacturing relationships
Requirements:
- advanced degree in mechanical engineering with an eye for contemporary design
- excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills
- advanced understanding of SolidWorks, Fusion360, and Keyshot are essential
- excellent knowledge of engineering/manufacturing principles and hands-on proof-of-concept prototyping skills
- must have US citizenship or green card and, ideally, reside in the New York City area
