Urban designer
at Cutwork
Cutwork is hiring an urban designer to join its team in Paris.
We are seeking a talented and experienced urban designer with experience in all phases from concept definition to technical design/construction who can help us design urban concepts that support modern usages, lifestyles and communities. Since August 2022, the studio is working on an international, large scale, 40 hectare urban renovation project and is seeking someone to immediately join its Paris team.

Cutwork is an architecture and design studio focused on new ways to live and work. We design architectural concepts, interior concepts, and furniture that can respond to evolving societal needs.
Modularity is a key part of our DNA and studio exploration, from interior design to modular buildings and housing solutions. Working with pioneering international clients and drawing on our expertise in shared living environments like coliving, artist residencies, and non-traditional family housing, we design smart, multi-use spaces and furniture for new ways of living and working.
Main responsibilities:
- elaborate and communicate urban design concepts and designs
- design and produce creative concepts, mood boards, architectural and urban design drawings, reports, client presentations, etc.
- work in close collaboration and maintain clear communication with other members of the Cutwork project team as well as external consultants
- maintain and organize your work, keep your files up-to-date to facilitate collaboration and communication, and respect Cutwork’s design guidelines
Requirements:
- excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- qualification in urban design, urban planning, architecture or landscape design with a minimum of five years’ professional experience
- experience in all phases from preliminary design to technical/construction phases
- demonstrated experience in large-scale, urban design projects including mixed-use urban projects, community planning, campus planning or transit-related projects and international design competitions
- demonstrated experience in urban activation, urban strategy and programming and activation of ports
- proficiency in ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite
- independent, hard-working, proactive, hungry to grow and inspire positive change
- ability to think outside the box and to express a strong design point of view
- strong organizational and communication skills and ability to work flexibly and independently in a demanding environment
- located in France or the EU.
Location: Paris, France.
Start date: ASAP, March 2022
Remuneration: Freelance position with competitive remuneration based on experience level.
