Mid-weight interior designer
at Nicola Harding & Co

Nicola Harding & Co is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join its growing team in London.

Nicola Harding & Co is a recognised authority on creating liveable, soulful places, characterised by colour, attention to detail and an eclectic mix of found items.

You will be part of a friendly, dynamic team, working in a stimulating, open plan, studio environment. We take great care to look after each member of the team and to promote their professional development. You will be working on an exciting mix of residential and commercial projects. We have a dedicated procurement team and an in-house finance manager to support the design team.

Key responsibilities:

  • managing and delivering projects on time, on budget and to the highest standard
  • some experience in leading and mentoring other team members, developing their abilities as designers
  • designing joinery, bespoke furniture, lighting and fixed finishes
  • delivering technical packages and detailed drawings
  • selecting, sourcing and coordinating detailed interior design packages and FF&E specifications for tender
  • prepare and manage FF&E cost schedules and spreadsheets for reporting on and approval of budgets
  • attending site meetings as representative of the client, reporting to senior designer or director
  • researching and sharing new trends, materials and styles within the industry
  • support and maintain studio sustainability policies

What we’re looking for

You will need to be highly creative, have a strategic mind and be excellent at problem-solving. You will have an interest in the history of styles, period detailing and antiques, as well as understanding current trends. You will be a keen researcher and have an appetite for colour, texture and the blending of personal and cultural histories.

Experience and qualifications required:

  • three plus years’ post qualification experience of high-end residential and boutique commercial projects
  • good grasp of interior architecture and FF&E design
  • demonstratable project management and budgeting skills
  • competent producer of detailed drawings, schedules and specifications
  • exceptional attention to detail and extensive knowledge of materials, finishes and detailing
  • excellent time management and organisational skills
  • ability to present design concepts and ideas with confidence and passion
  • experience of liaising with architects, consultants, specialists and suppliers

Skills required:

  • proficient in AutoCAD
  • experienced user of Estimac
  • experienced user of Microsoft Office
  • good knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (Illustrator beneficial)
  • excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
