Junior interior designer

Buchanan Studio is looking for a junior interior designer to join its team in London.
This is a rare opportunity to join Buchanan Studio in an entry-level position, and the successful applicant will gain experience in all aspects of the studio with a particular focus on interior design but also including occasional event design, marketing, sales, customer service, set design and production. We are a small team but expanding fast as a company so there is huge potential for career progression within the studio.

Required skills and attributes:
- a positive attitude with plenty of enthusiasm and a genuine desire to learn is crucial for this role
- confident using InDesign
- any experience working with Estimac, Vectorworks and Photoshop is not crucial but highly desirable
- rigorous attention to detail
- a problem solver with strong initiative and resourcefulness
- creativity, an instinct for style, and an eye for good design
- an ability to take full ownership and responsibility of your own workload
- a willingness to “muck in” and take on any kind of task, including office admin duties
- excellent organisational and time management skills
- good communication skills, as you will need to present your ideas to the rest of the team, and liaise with contractors, consultants, customers and clients
- ability to receive constructive feedback
- an ambition to grow with the studio, becoming a long term and integral part of the team
Role and responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):
- supporting the co-founders, associate director and the rest of the design team in all aspects of studio life including creative tasks as well as office admin duties
- image sourcing
- creation of mood boards and presentations for clients
- FF&E sourcing and procurement
- answering incoming customer enquiries via email for the Buchanan Studio ‘shop’ – answering the studio phone and screening calls
- booking couriers and deliveries
- sourcing props for photography shoots and/or events
- sourcing new suppliers and developing relationships with artisans and makers
- meeting with potential suppliers
- keeping the studio’s sample library organised and up to date
- keeping the studio tidy and preparing it for client meetings
- meeting customers and showing them furniture and fabrics in our showroom
- assisting on set on shoots
- assisting on site with events
- willingness and ability to travel internationally where may be required on projects
- liaising with third party suppliers and contractors
- attendance of client meetings, and note taking
- making sure the studio stationery and kitchen supplies are fully stocked
- collecting post from our post box and distributing as necessary to the team
- assembling and sending fabric samples to customers

We are a small team with a variety of creative projects on at any one-time including parties, branding and other projects not all interiors related.
Salary: competitive. Dependent on experience.
