Senior interior designer

Buchanan Studio is looking for a senior interior designer to join its team in London.
Position: full time senior interior designer
Start date: ASAP
Required skills and attributes:
- an excellent knowledge of Vectorworks, InDesign/Adobe Suite
- rigorous attention to detail
- reativity, a natural instinct for style and an eye for good design
- a positive outlook
- a desire to lead a project from start to finish, collaborating with other members of the team (or freelancers) as required
- an ability to take full ownership and responsibility of your own workload
- a willingness to “muck in” we are a small team, so we all help across all aspects of the business from time to time
- excellent organisational and time management skills
- good communication skills, as you will need to present your ideas to the rest of the team and liaise with contractors, consultants and clients
- a problem solver with strong initiative and resourcefulness
- ability to receive constructive feedback
- an ambition to grow with the studio, becoming a long term and integral part of the team
- a particular strength in/passion for sourcing FF&E is highly desirable, though not crucial
- experience using Estimac is highly desirable, though not crucial
- ability to draw in 3D using sketch up (or other software) is highly desirable, though not crucial
Role and responsibilities:
- supporting the creative director across everything from concept designs to completed tender packs, construction drawings and on-site management
- drafting plans, elevations and detailed design drawings
- FF&E sourcing and procurement
- occasionally sourcing props for photography shoots and/or events
- sourcing new suppliers and developing relationships with artisans and makers
- meeting with suppliers
- creation of presentations to clients
- fulfilling production requirements for custom furniture and lighting for our projects
- arranging and overseeing photography of completed projects including on site styling and curation of props
- willingness and ability to travel internationally where may be required on projects
- liaising with third party suppliers and contractors
- attendance of client meetings
- taking the design lead on a project and managing the responsibilities from Buchanan Studio’s side, feeding back information and progress to the creative director and other team members.
- representing Buchanan Studio on-site and at third party and/or client meetings where required
This description reflects the core activities of the role but is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be required in addition to changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time. We are a small team with a variety of creative projects on at any one-time including parties, branding and other projects not all interiors related. There is a requirement to recognise this and adopt a flexible approach to work.
Hours of work: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, with some flexibility on working from home.
Salary: competitive. Dependent on experience.
