Michael Jones Architects has an opportunity for a senior architect to join its team in London.

Senior project architect

Michael Jones Architects is a medium-sized award-winning architectural practice based in Richmond, South West London.

We are seeking a talented and experienced senior architect to join our friendly team of professionals specialising in the design and delivery of high end private residential projects, listed building restorations, ecclesiastical work, university projects and nursery schools.

As a senior architect you will be responsible for leading the design process from concept to completion, working closely with clients to assist in developing a brief and vision, taking projects through concept design, planning, technical design and construction. Depending on individual performance and development of the practice, promotion to associate director would be a possibility.

Key responsibilities will include:

• leading the design process from concept to completion, through all RIBA work stages
• working closely with clients to understand their brief and help them realise their vision
• managing a team to ensure that deadlines are met
• obtaining all necessary consents, and overseeing all aspects of design and construction, including coordinating with contractors, managing budgets and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations

As a minimum candidates must:

• have five years’ relevant experience post Part 3 qualification
• have a bachelor’s degree in architecture with 2:1 or better, and/or masters in architecture and an accredited RIBA Part 3 qualification
• have experience leading projects and working directly with clients
• have experience of managing a team
• be proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe and other appropriate software
• have the ability to sketch and produce hand drawings to convey design ideas and concepts
• have excellent attention to detail to ensure all work is precise and accurate
• have strong communication and project management skills
• have the ability to work well in a team environment
