About the role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate designer to join its interior design studio for an exciting retail project for a well-known luxury brand, which includes hospitality spaces such as a café, bar and barbers. You will be working directly with our team of designers to conceptualise, develop and draw up a new retail project (flagship store). You must have exceptional technical skills and a strong aesthetic eye. Your work will involve the architectural and fixtures drawing package and assisting if needed with 3D modelling of the space.
Requirements:
- minimum of five years’ experience in architectural/interior design
- experience in the planning of high-end retail developments
- experience in hospitality
- experience or interest in classical architecture/design
- experience in coordinating drawing packages
- ability to demonstrate strong technical skills through a selection of drawing packages
- proficient in CAD drawings – preferably AutoCAD
- proficient in 3D modelling with SketchUp and ideally also Rhino
- proficient in Photoshop
- strong design sensibility and a good sense of composition
- ability to work collaboratively
- right to work in the UK
The ideal candidate should:
- be available to join the team ASAP
- demonstrate an academic background in architecture or interior design
- ability to join the team in April and eager to get to work quickly
- bring extensive retail and hospitality knowledge to the table
- be organised, detail-oriented and pro-active
- have strong communication and design presentation skills
- have knowledge of products and materials
- work effectively by meeting tight deadlines
- have a strong work ethic
- have either worked in an architectural firm or worked in an interior design studio that has a focus on architectural projects
- be a Mac user
Responsibilities:
- support detailed tender drawing package and schedules
- develop initial concept design through reference images, sketches and 3D modelling in keeping with RU aesthetic
- develop display fixtures in keeping with concept design
- assist with 3D modelling of the space if needed
- source/research materials and finishes, coordinate with suppliers when needed
- attend client meetings, as required
- liaise with all contractors and attend site meetings, as required
- undertake administration if required – preparation of mood boards, procurement of samples, and supplier quotations
- complete timesheets accurately and on time weekly
- develop or maintain good knowledge and practical application of all creative software used in the studio
