Smith Simmons and Partners is seeking an architect to join its team in Chichester, UK.

Based in the heart of Chichester, Smith Simmons and Partners is a multi-disciplinary practice of planning specialists and architects who collaboratively deliver inspiring projects.

We are looking for a talented architect to utilise their strong design and technical expertise to collaboratively support our in-house team that comprises a hands-on partner, skilled architects and technologists to deliver exceptional work on a wide range of residential, commercial, heritage, conservation and rural projects.

This integral new role will provide the opportunity to take responsibility in leading architectural projects from conception to completion, and to also work collaboratively with the team.

We are highly ambitious and since we established, we have substantially and sustainably grown both locally and beyond, particularly in the residential and commercial sectors.  We have built an excellent reputation and are proud of our strong portfolio. We have predominately focused on creating inspiring traditional developments and are looking to expand our reach to include more sectors.  To support our continued success, we are also currently recruiting for two further additional roles within the architectural team.

Whilst you will be experienced in numerous architectural typologies, you will be able to demonstrate a genuine creative passion and sensitivity for designing and delivering projects that will complement and enhance our portfolio.  Strong interest and experience of working on rural, heritage, conservation and listed building projects is a distinct advantage.

In order to apply, it is essential that you meet the following criteria:

  • Part 3 RIBA qualification
  • current ARB registration/qualification
  • minimum of three years relevant post Part 3 qualification experience in a UK architectural practice
  • relevant experience at all RIBA stages
  • strong design and technical skills
  • strong construction knowledge
  • proven experience of working at pace and simultaneously delivering a wide range of projects
  • excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the confidence in liaising directly with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients
  • AutoCAD, Microsoft office, SketchUp and Photoshop skills
  • must currently be based in the UK and live within a commutable distance of Chichester or be willing to relocate
  • must be able to show evidence of eligibility to work in the UK
  • willingness to travel for site visits as and when required
  • due to the requirement for regular site visits, many of which are in rural locations, you must have a full UK driving licence with your own or reliable transport
