Finance manager
at Architecture for London
AFL Build has an opportunity for an administration/finance manager to join its team in London.
We are a central London-based contractor with an architect-led design and build service. We work alongside Architecture for London, an award-winning architecture practice dedicated to the creation of inspirational and sustainable architecture and interiors.
We are looking for an administrator/finance manager with experience in the construction industry. The ideal candidate should be looking to build experience and responsibility. This is a full-time role based at our studio in Farringdon.

Responsibilities will include:
- managing the business finances
- purchasing
- project management support
Finance:
- liaising with accountants
- invoicing clients
- assisting with the production of quotes
- fee proposals, payment schedules, forecasts and accounts
- thorough understanding of CIS and VAT desired
- previous experience of using WorkFlowMax and Xero is strongly beneficial
Purchasing:
- arranging quotes
- paying suppliers and subcontractors
- building relationships with suppliers
Project management:
- supporting the senior team with managing construction schedules and programmes
- supporting construction site teams
- we use smart project management apps such as Buildertrend
- liaising with clients
- organising meetings
- contract creation
- document control
Other tasks:
- help ensure that the company complies with statutory obligations, including health and safety
- organisation of site team training
- prepare and edit documents, reports and letters
- supporting the senior team in business development
Essential skills:
- a solid knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets
- excellent organisational skills
- strong communicator
- high standard of written and spoken English
- proactive and logical approach to problem-solving
- ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workloads
Preferred skills:
- experience in a similar role, preferably within residential construction in London
- interest in architecture
- interest in sustainability
- knowledge of Adobe InDesign
- experience in IT support

Salary will be commensurate with ability and experience. We are a London Living Wage employer.
