Commercial interior designer
at Studio X
Studio X is hiring a commercial interior designer to join its team in Hong Kong.
We are a Hong Kong-based commercial interior design studio working across retail, hospitality and premium workplace environments. Our projects are design-led, brand-driven and commercially focused. We are based in Wong Chuk Hang.
We are looking for either
Mid-level designer: three to six years’ experience. Strong design thinker who contributes meaningfully across concept and development
Senior designer/project lead: six to ten years’ experience. Capable of independently running projects from concept through delivery.
Role overview
You will work on commercial interiors where people interact and transact.
This means:
- retail stores
- restaurants and hospitality environments
- premium, experience-driven workplaces
We are not looking for generic corporate office experience. If your background is in workplace design, it must be design-led and unconventional.
Key responsibilities:
- develop and articulate strong spatial concepts
- translate brand and strategy into built form
- produce layouts, mood boards, material palettes and presentation decks
- sketch and communicate ideas clearly
- develop design packages through design development and construction stages
- coordinate consultants, suppliers and contractors
- attend client meetings and site visits
- ensure design intent is maintained through execution
For senior level candidates:
- independently manage projects
- lead client communication
- manage timelines and internal coordination
- take ownership of delivery and problem solving
What we are looking for
Experience:
- background in a reputable design or architecture firm
- strong commercial portfolio with retail or hospitality
- experience on spaces where product, service or experience is sold
Skills:
- proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp
- other 3D software will be considered if proficiency is high
- strong visual communication skills
- hand sketching is a bonus
- confident presenter
- creative and curious
- enjoys both concept and delivery
- resilient and willing to test ideas
- collaborative and positive
- must speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin
- willing to work from our Wong Chuk Hang studio
