BetterPAD is looking for a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

BetterPAD is seeking an experienced Part 2 architectural assistant to join the team on a part-time freelance/contract basis. We offer an outstanding design service, and believe that if all building work went through the filter of an architect, the world would be a better place! Since our founding in 2018 we’ve steadily grown a portfolio of beautifully crafted work, and are working on some exciting new appointments. We’re looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and talented architectural assistant to help deliver a number of projects and work alongside a small team on others.

Compensation

Hourly rate, dependent on experience; please state salary expectation in your application. The position would be for an initial contract period of three months at three to four days per week with the possibility of permanent full-time employment and open-ended career development for an aspirational person.

You will be responsible for:

  • producing technical packages for tender and construction
  • producing planning applications
  • producing drawings and 3D modelling at concept design stage
  • carrying out measured surveys and producing survey/existing drawings
  • liaising directly with external consultants obtain specific technical details to include within drawings

You should have:

  • prior experience working on UK domestic projects (£100k – £750k). Candidates who only have experience on much larger projects will not be considered
  • good technical skills, and ability to produce 1:5 scale construction details
  • ability to work quickly and efficiently, and to multi-task on a number of projects
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to develop rapport with team
  • a working understanding of the RIBA stages, building regulations and planning law
  • proficiency in 2D Vectorworks is essential, SketchUp and Adobe Suite are desirable
  • excellent command of English, both written and spoken

Location

The role will be by distance given since March 2020 we have been working 100% remotely. This will likely remain the case for the three-month contract we are looking for, however should your appointment extend beyond this timeline, the intention will be to work together in co-working spaces two to three days a week in East Dulwich, London.
