March and White Design is seeking a middleweight interior designer to join its team in London.

March and White Design is a global design firm of forward thinking experts creating interiors for how we live, move, work and play today. Founded in 2010 by Architects Elliot March and James White, MAWD has offices in London, New York and Los Angeles. MAWD specialise in designing high-end residential developments and commercial interiors with a focus on buyer and guest experience. Our interiors inspire emotions and enhance the quality of life across generations.

Our London studio is seeking a talented interior designer to join a dynamic team in a fast-growing studio. We are looking for a highly creative and detail oriented middleweight interior designer to work closely with our design associates and cofounder.

Education

You must have a BA interior design, a BA architectural interior design or similar, with two to four years’ post-graduate experience.

Role outline

As a middleweight interior designer, you will have strong conceptual skills, good knowledge of interior detailing and a good knowledge of FF&E specification. Furthermore, you must be comfortable working autonomously and possess exceptional attention to detail.

You will work closely with a team of skilled designers and technical architects, all of whom are led by an associate director. You are expected to be ‘hands-on’ in your approach whilst using your initiative to complete tasks with a calm natured response.

Responsibilities:

  • working accurately to a written or verbal brief, which details how each individual space will be used
  • execution of projects as a member of project team
  • developing detailed designs and choosing materials
  • preparation of concepts, mood boards, preliminary and final designs, and development of details, furniture, fixtures and lighting layout
  • managing the procurement of FF&E products
  • developing detailed designs and choosing materials
  • good presentation skills, representing and promoting the March & White brand to clients and suppliers

Required skills:

  • proven working knowledge of new build construction and refit projects including FF&E procurement (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling)
  • proven experience in AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D modelling software (SketchUp), Excel, Estimate and other industry software packages would all be advantageous
  • proven experience in dealing with clients, contractors and other suppliers in a highly professional manner
  • ability to create and develop conceptual designs including the skill of using colour and texture, and the ability to explain these to others
  • ability to advise clients on all technical aspects of a design project
  • some knowledge of Studio software would be advantageous
  • self-motivated, a good team member who can be relied upon to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner
  • self-confident, receptive to constructive feedback and able to cope with criticism of your work
  • organised, and able to manage your time effectively
  • excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
  • exceptional attention to detail
