Design assistant
at Trifle*

There is an opportunity for a design assistant at trifle* in London.

We are looking for a creative, proactive design assistant with excellent organisational skills to contribute to our growing, human centric commercial interior design practice in central London. The role is full-time with a competitive salary.

This exciting opportunity will suit a person with a keen interest in all aspects of commercial design and a passion for furniture, finishes and product design. A commitment to sustainability and a desire to reduce the environmental impact of project purchasing will be integral. The role will involve working with some of the most established furniture practices in Europe today as well as many new, independent brands. There will also be opportunities to improve conceptual and developed design skills, be part of a project team and learn all aspects of designing fantastic working environments at a time when the approach to workplace design has never been more important.

The role also requires you to have a keen eye for detail, be an excellent communicator and collaborator who enjoys working with a range of people.

The job will start with the trifle* induction process, including immersing you in our mission, values and process. You will also visit a couple of our recently completed projects and meet some of our favourite suppliers along with the design team.

Key tasks:

  • placing orders for furniture, fixtures and fittings as specified by the design team
  • updating furniture and finishes schedules and circulating to clients
  • scheduling and managing delivery times
  • updating FF&E budgets
  • keeping up to date with new products
  • ordering and organising samples and maintaining the materials library
  • working on presentations for clients
  • liaising with the accounts department

Essential skills:

  • a good eye and a proven interest in design
  • organisational skills – order management, scheduling, budgeting
  • proficient in Google Suite and Photoshop
  • time management
  • excellent communication skills
  • attention to detail
  • problem solving

Additional skills (non-essential):

  • sustainability/environmental design knowledge
  • experience of working within a design team and studio
  • SketchUp or basic CAD skills
