Junior interior designer

Pirajean Lees is looking for a full-time junior interior designer to join its team in London.

Hospitality and residential – ​junior to mid-weight.

We are looking for a designer who shares our interest in materials, textures and details, and able to approach each project with a fresh perspective.

Someone qualified, talented, confident and with the desire to learn and grow in our team.

You will join our creative team, to work primarily on high-end restaurants and bars internationally and secondly on private residential projects.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting projects and will be an integral part of
the team.

The responsibilities will include:

  • assist the team with design stages and presentations including conceptual research, image sourcing, hand sketching, 3D modelling
  • creating mood boards using InDesign, sharing creative ideas to shape and develop project narratives
  • assist with drawings packages ranging from master plans to smaller architectural and joinery interior details
  • keeping track of all design documentation
  • prepare FF&E and material schedules in Excel
  • research and sourcing: references, materials, finishes, fabrics, and antiques for projects and our material library
  • visiting markets and design fairs/shows in London
  • maintaining and growing relationships with new and existing suppliers and manufacturers
  • attending relevant project site meetings bi-weekly/monthly

Key requirements:

  • the candidate must have a minimum 18 months relevant experience and can demonstrate an understanding of luxury/high-end hospitality or private residential projects
  • confident communication skills, ability to present ideas to the studio co-founders and design team and liaise with contractors, consultants, and clients
  • strong conceptualisation skills with excellent knowledge of design detailing, specifications, and furniture design
  • competent in preparing CAD drawings packages
  • strong organisational skills
  • knowledge of the UK regulations and UK project stages
  • on-site experience preferable

Must be fluent in (essential):

  • professional English
  • hand sketching
  • 2D – AutoCAD
  • 3D StudioMax or SketchUp
  • Photoshop and InDesign
  • Word and Excel
