Stephanie Barba Mendoza (SBM) is seeking a full-time mid-weight interior designer to join its team in London.
Mid-weight designer
In this position you will support the senior design team responsible for multiple projects simultaneously from initial concept through to development, coordination, documentation and on-site execution.
You will be part of a small and growing team of designers working under the direction of a senior designer and the creative director. In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of exceptional projects in the high end commercial, hospitality and residential design sectors in an office where no day is the same.
We expect a strong work ethic and the ability to work in more than one project, while being organised.
Role description:
- supporting the senior designer in creating designs and delivering presentations based on the project(s) deliverables
- design tasks may include, but not be limited to developing designs, 3D modelling, elevation renderings, mood board creation, CAD drawings, image research, materials, and furniture sourcing. Under the supervision of a senior designer, assist in the creation of quality timely sets of drawings, specifications, budgets and reports
- assist in providing SBM’s construction document packages such as contributing with drawing plans, sections, elevations and details, as well preparing agendas, responding to RFI’s, processing submittals, attending and reporting on field visits and completing to do lists
- attending key internal and external design meetings. Typing and issuing meeting notes for senior designers and the creative director
- setting up and maintaining project files and folders in accordance with SBM standards
- maintaining a working check set of all deliverables’ documents
- tagging images in accordance with image library standards
- archiving record copies of all milestone deliverables
Required skills and experience:
- three to four years of post-graduate design experience with significant exposure to high end, conceptually driven interior design
- professional qualification of interior design
- demonstrated conceptual approach to design
- experience building, nurturing, and fostering client and supplier relationships
- excellent teamwork skills
- excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
- strong writing skills (narratives, strategy, meeting minutes, proposals, etc.)
- persuasive presentation skills
- excellent 2D drawing skills (AutoCAD)
- excellent digital skills to produce presentations (Adobe CS knowledge, particularly InDesign and Photoshop)
- 3D skills (SketchUp/hand sketches), ability to study spatial design
- excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to set up and maintain schedules and specifications sheets
- experience in custom furniture design desirable
- knowledge of European and American supplier market desirable
- British citizen or appropriate working permit essential
