Media and public relations coordinator
at Mizzi Studio

Mizzi Studio has an opportunity for a media and public relations coordinator to join its team in London, Malta and Bali.

We are looking for a talented, well-connected media and public relations coordinator to join our vibrant international team with studios in London, Malta and Indonesia on a part time/full time basis.

About Mizzi Studio

Mizzi Studio is an award-winning, multidisciplinary practice specialising in bioarchitecture and biophilic design, dedicated to mapping out an exciting, resilient, sustainable future. Powered by optimism, driven by context and inspired by nature and science, we bring our projects to life through ecologically friendly construction; our mission is to reconnect humanity with the natural world. Our projects embrace experimentation and innovation, yet consistently look to ancestry and heritage to borrow from lineages of aesthetics, craft, and materiality. We are contextualists who believe that learning from the past guarantees the best practice in eliminating wasteful processes and building the most sustainable future possible.

We have been privileged to work with globally renowned clients including The Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, The Royal Parks and The Science Museum. Whether it be for respite, care, mobility or education, we believe in the experiential power of architecture and design and its strength in inspiring people to live environmentally socially responsible lives.

About the role

The role will cover all activity related to media coverage, liaison and co-ordination – including social media, print and digital press and media-related events. We are looking for someone with two-plus years working in the architecture and design industry, robust knowledge of the architecture/design press, substantial experience dealing with PR professionals and journalists and a sound track-record of delivering captivating social media content. The right candidate should be able to produce exceptional copy for all content related to press, with a keen eye for detail and strong editing skills.

Our studio offers flexible, hybrid working and has a studio presence in Malta, London and Bali. Candidates will be expected to work remotely with all studios, with possibilities to work directly from the individual studio locations to be discussed as required. Candidates should outline their availability to work from Malta, London or Bali within their cover letter. The role will be part-time, either two, three days a week, or five half-days.

Applicants should be confident working autonomously, able to manage all media activities internally, as well as liaise with the studio’s external consultants. The candidate will work alongside an external content consultant, but they should have strong copy writing skills and confidence with visual content.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • jointly producing copy with the studio’s content consultant for project descriptions, press releases, social media, newsletters, award submissions and media pitches
  • crafting press strategies both on a studio-wide level and on a project-by-project basis
  • crafting social media strategies with measurable audience-reaching goals
  • implement social media across all relevant social media platforms
  • building and up-keep of a strong, wide-reaching press contacts database
  • maintaining good relationships with all press contacts and managing media liaison in a timely manner
  • identifying public relations opportunities for the studio’s director and senior designers – including lectures, fairs, networking events and so on
  • keeping on top of industry award submission dates, identifying projects to enter and putting together strong submissions
  • maintaining up-to-date press packs for each of the studio’s projects, including text descriptions, press-ready drawings and adequate photographs or visualisations
  • maintaining and updating the studio’s digital and physical press archive
  • conducting market research with a view to grow media and networking opportunities for the studio

Your skills should include:

  • two-plus years working in a similar role within an architectural or design practice
  • excellent written and verbal English
  • strong communication and collaborative skills
  • ability to work with a remote team including external consultants when required
  • ability to deliver results against multiple deadlines across numerous projects
  • ability to keep on top of current design trends and movements
  • excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • good knowledge of Adobe Suite software – specifically InDesign
  • keen interest in architecture and design

Please email us your CV and a short introductory letter explaining why you’d be perfect for the role, why you would be interested in working at Mizzi Studio and your salary expectations. As this position will require frequent copy writing tasks, we would also love to see an example of your writing.
