Construction buyer

Craftworks is looking for a construction buyer to join its team in London.
Craftworks is a global award-winning architect organisation. It works closely in collaboration with its development company, The Edition Group and together with its in-house construction company, the triptych organisation offers staff widened exposure across all three disciplines. Our projects are wide varying; crafted one-off houses, tall buildings, large-scale innovative housing schemes, regeneration schemes and social enterprise projects.
We are currently seeking an experienced construction buyer to join and support the existing team.
Role scope
We are looking to recruit an experienced construction buyer who will also be able to assist with procurement of materials and plant. Working in a small team, you will take a proactive approach in building relationships with all staff and suppliers. You will manage the supply chain, resolving invoice, price and delivery queries as well as ensuring all items are received.
You will be highly organised, focused on key objectives and be driven to deliver quality work. You take pride in what you do and enjoy supporting and helping others achieve their objectives. You will be able to efficiently multi-task and work with little supervision.
This role is primarily suited towards someone that has come from the construction background and be comfortable to work on-site and from our central-London office.
What we are looking for:
- excellent communication skills in English
- strong organisational skills
- meticulous attention to detail
- ability to multitask, work under pressure and prioritise multiple projects
- positive attitude, capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- excellent administration skills
- Romanian speaking preferable but not essential.
Duties of a buyer:
- providing prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings
- identifying potential suppliers and new products
- contacting a range of suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations
- assessing the reliability of sub-contractors and suppliers
- negotiating and agreeing the most favourable terms possible with suppliers
- agree delivery times and ensure that they are kept
- cross referencing deliveries with delivery slips to ensure all materials are received
- dealing effectively with challenges
- ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials and services
- providing advice to your line manager regarding costs
- preparing and maintaining cost reports in order to maximise efficiency within the business
- your normal working hours will be 9am-6pm Monday to Friday situated part on-site and part from our central London office
