Senior interior designer
at Max Rollitt
Max Rollit is seeking a senior interior designer for a one-year fixed-term maternity cover contract to join its team in Hampshire, UK.
This is a one-year fixed-term contract from May/June 2023. You will have at least five years industry experience working in a similar context and be passionate about interior design for high-end residential properties. You will ideally have experience in interior architecture and space planning with knowledge of materials, finishes, detailing and interior joinery.
You will be leading one of our prestigious projects in its delivery and implementation as well as contributing to incoming new projects. We’re looking for a team player who loves to collaborate but has experience working in a small, busy team working in the context of residential design. You will be proficient at working on multiple projects at the same time, ensuring timely delivery of designs. We need someone who is highly organised and has excellent presentation skills with an ability to build rapport with private clients.
There may be a possibility to move to a permanent contract once the maternity cover period is complete.
Max Rollitt is a leading interior designer, antiques dealer and furniture designer based only one hour from London in the beautiful Hampshire countryside near to Winchester. The role would be based at Yavington Barn offices and showroom.

Main responsibilities:
- take initiative in the design development and specifications of interior projects in line with Max Rollitt’s specifications and style
- manage the design process, oversee procurement and lead on implementation and installation stages
- liaise between Max Rollitt and the design team during the design process
- provide design budgets for projects
- develop and present design concepts
- collaborate with external partners such as sub-contractors and architects
- review contractor shop drawings and communicate with manufacturers effectively and efficiently with an understanding of budget constraints or opportunities
- prepare client presentations and be able to present to a high standard
- organise and attend client meetings, presenting plans and information for
- effective development of supplier relationships across the board
- produce accurate drawings, plans and specifications, using Vectorworks where appropriate
- conduct site visits before, during and after installation to ensure progress and adherence to plans
- manage changes and revisions to projects, adhering to project contracts, schedules and budget
- working with procurement, ensuring correct specification in placing orders
- monitor the daily tasks of junior designers and ensuring that all administrative records are being completed thoroughly
- ensure clients are invoiced according to schedule, minimising financial risk
- review and oversee records on EstiPC to ensure accurate and detailed information is recorded
- maintain and organise detailed project documentation, including records of key decisions and notes from client and internal meetings
- working with the finance manager, produce regular project and financial
- provide a full and thorough review on completion of projects

Person specification:
- proven people management skills and leading a small team
- proven high-quality experience of client liaison
- skilled at working collaboratively within a team while demonstrating independent thinking in ideas and decision-making, pro-actively presenting ideas for final approval from the director
- provide excellent attention to detail
- proven experience of efficient project management systems and processes
- experience in EstiPC software is essential
- excellent verbal and written communications are essential, as you will be liaising between multiple parties, including clients, sub-contractors and architects
- strong creative flair and ability to understand and interpret the Max Rollitt
- exceptional eye for detail, colour, and knowledge of antiques desirable
- comfortable and confident working with the Max Rollitt client base, exercising discretion where necessary
- confident in presentation of design schemes using design materials and digital means
- be innovative, resourceful and an excellent problem solver
- work well under pressure, being able to multi-task and prioritise effectively
- communicate effectively and professionally both orally and written
- plan and organise effectively, managing resources and changes, prioritising work, setting goals and developing solutions, identifying and resolving problems early
- be able to travel to clients in UK and globally, as required
- be flexible in working hours to ensure timescales are met – extended working hours may be required from time to time to ensure project deadlines are met
